Chapter 54

Supply Base

Night, stars dotted the sky. Under the starry expanse, a figure moved like a black lightning bolt through the dilapidated county town, swiftly darting forward. At times, he followed the streets, at others, he leaped through residential districts... In mere moments, he reached the six-story residential building where the Fire Hammer Squad members were staying. “Luo Feng’s here.” “Hmm, doesn’t look injured.” The Fire Hammer Squad members watched through binoculars as Luo Feng entered the residential building’s stairwell. Moments later, Luo Feng emerged onto the rooftop. “Captain, Brother Chen,” Luo Feng called out with a smile. “No injuries, good, good. So, did you hunt down that Silvermoon Direwolf?” Even the usually composed Captain Gao Feng couldn’t help but ask repeatedly. Chen Gu, the Wei brothers, and even Zhang Ke, lying on the ground, all looked at Luo Feng with excited anticipation. Chen Gu exclaimed in surprise, “Luo Feng’s backpack is much fuller!” Luo Feng chuckled, “Brother Chen, your eyes are sharp indeed! Yes, I was lucky enough to kill that Silvermoon Direwolf just now! I dissected it, and all the valuable parts are in my backpack.” “Really killed it?” The Fire Hammer Squad members’ eyes widened in shock. A Silvermoon Direwolf! The royalty among wolves! Wolf-type monsters are rare enough, let alone the royal ‘Silvermoon Direwolf’. “It was pure luck this time,” Luo Feng couldn’t help but sigh. “That Silvermoon Direwolf’s movement speed probably reached the speed of sound! Its attack power was ridiculously strong, and its fur was terrifyingly tough. If it hadn’t been severely wounded from the start, with a large gash in its abdomen, I would have found it incredibly difficult to kill!” “Movement speed, reached the speed of sound?” Chen Gu’s eyes widened. “That’s insane. Truly worthy of a wolf royalty, comparable to a Beginner Tier Lord among boar-type monsters,” Wei Tie exclaimed, unable to contain himself. “This is bad,” Gao Feng’s expression changed drastically. Luo Feng was startled by his captain. “Captain, what’s wrong? What happened?” Luo Feng quickly asked. “This Silvermoon Direwolf was already severely wounded, it must have fought with human Warriors before,” Gao Feng said anxiously. “The Warrior Squad that battled it might have left a tracking signal on its fur. If that squad tracks us down, we’ll be in deep trouble!” Chen Gu was also startled. “Right, a Warrior Squad capable of severely wounding a Silvermoon Direwolf isn’t someone we can afford to offend. There might even be Warlord-level Warriors among them!” Hearing this, Luo Feng couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. “Don’t worry, Captain,” Luo Feng said. “Although I don’t have much experience, before my first venture into the Wilderness Zone, I naturally researched a lot of relevant information and basic common sense. After killing the Silvermoon Direwolf, I checked it. There was indeed a signal left on its fur, but I cut off that patch.” Luo Feng said. Gao Feng and Chen Gu finally relaxed. Their biggest concern was Luo Feng’s inexperience as a newcomer. After all, snatching a severely wounded monster from another party could lead to serious trouble if they were tracked down. “Zhang Ke is severely injured now, so our squad can’t stay in the Wilderness Zone much longer. Everyone get some good rest here, and we’ll set off for the Supply Base at dawn tomorrow,” Gao Feng instructed. “Understood, Captain.” The group responded with smiles. ... Early the next morning, the Fire Hammer Squad quietly departed from County Town No. 0201, advancing along the dilapidated highway, heading towards the Supply Base. ... Inside the Military Region’s Supply Base. “Brother Hei.” Zhang Zehu was in a corner of the Supply Base, smoking and chatting with a bearded man. “Have you seen anyone from the Fire Hammer Squad return recently, Brother Hei? Damn it, that bastard Luo Feng from the Fire Hammer Squad made me lose a hundred million. If I don’t cause him some trouble, I won’t be able to vent this anger.” “Not yet. The registration records show no information about the Fire Hammer Squad returning,” the bearded man chuckled casually. “Hu Zi, if Luo Feng provoked you, you’ll have to teach him a lesson in the Wilderness Zone. Fighting is strictly forbidden in the Supply Base.” “Of course I understand that, I’m not looking to die,” Zhang Zehu laughed. Both Base Cities and Military Regions are backed by government forces. No matter how deep the animosity between Warriors, they wouldn’t dare fight each other within a Military Region; the consequences would be dire. The Supply Base, after all, is just a small area designated within the Military Region, with its safety and other aspects managed by the Military Region. “Brother Hei, when Luo Feng returns, give me a heads-up,” Zhang Zehu said with a smile. “Alright, no problem,” the bearded man nodded, smiling. Zhang Zehu tossed his cigarette butt to the ground, stomped on it, and chuckled, “Then I’ll be off, brother, talk to you later.” With that, Zhang Zehu moved through the Supply Base. Though called a base, it felt more like a residential district. Soon, Zhang Zehu met up with his other two squad members under a large tree near the Supply Base’s main gate. “How’s it going, Hu Zi?” the one-eyed middle-aged man whispered. “They haven’t returned, not a single word,” Zhang Zehu replied with a slight smile. The burly bald man beside him chuckled, “None of them are back yet. If you ask me, they’ve probably all been wiped out by a beast horde. It’s better if the Fire Hammer Squad is gone; that means no more trouble.” The Tiger Fang Squad wasn’t afraid of the Fire Hammer Squad, but if any members survived, it would still be a minor nuisance. “The Fire Hammer Squad, hmph. They only have Luo Feng to blame,” Zhang Zehu sneered. “Daring to make me spend money. By the way, have you found out who snatched our kill?” “No,” the one-eyed middle-aged man frowned, shaking his head. “Not a single lead. The captain’s currently in the room, smashing wine bottles in a rage.” “In my opinion, since we couldn’t track them down on our way back, there’s no hope of finding out who stole our kill now,” the burly bald man said, shaking his head. Suddenly, his expression changed, and he stared intently at the Supply Base’s main gate in the distance. The other two saw his reaction and turned to look, their faces also changing drastically! There, at the base gate, were Gao Feng, Chen Gu, Wei Qiang, Wei Tie, Luo Feng, and even Zhang Ke. “A9, Old Gao, looks like you ran into some trouble this time,” the gatekeeper remarked, noticing Zhang Ke’s bandaged, severed arm. “Damn it, don’t even get me started. The monsters didn’t hurt us, but those sons of bitches from the Tiger Fang Squad ambushed us!” Gao Feng cursed. “Captain, the Tiger Fang Squad is over there!!!” Chen Gu suddenly roared. Immediately, all members of the Fire Hammer Squad turned their heads, spotting the three figures under the shade of a large tree not far away. Seeing them, every member of the Fire Hammer Squad’s face contorted with rage. Zhang Ke, pale-faced and only carrying a backpack, roared, “Stop!” Zhang Zehu and his two companions actually flinched the moment they saw the six members of the Fire Hammer Squad, and immediately turned to leave. They were clearly in the wrong! But they hadn’t expected Chen Gu to spot them. “Trying to run?” Gao Feng bellowed. All six members of the Fire Hammer Squad charged forward. Gao Feng’s roar immediately drew the attention of many Warriors in the Supply Base. At this point, Zhang Zehu and his two companions dared not flee. If they truly ran away in a panic, wouldn’t that be admitting their guilt? They might have done it, but they couldn’t admit it! “Gao Feng, what are you shouting about?” the one-eyed middle-aged man snapped, turning around. “What do you think this place is? This is within the Military Region, a Warrior Supply Base. Is this where you come to run wild?” “Running wild without knowing your place,” the bald man sneered as well. Regardless, they couldn’t afford to lose face. “Still arrogant, are we?” Gao Feng, with bloodshot eyes, grabbed a heavy hammer from behind him with each hand and charged forward, swinging both hammers. “You’re asking for a beating!” The one-eyed middle-aged man, Zhang Zehu, and their third companion all changed expression. They lacked confidence, as they were in the wrong. “Beep! Beep! Beep!” A piercing siren blared. A twelve-person squad in combat uniforms swiftly rushed over from nearby. Their leader, a squad captain, shouted, “Put down your weapons! Fighting is forbidden within the Supply Base. Otherwise, our Guard Squad has the right to kill you.”
