Chapter 446
Six-Faced Divine Beast: Mist Dragon Wolf King, Chris Andy's Evolved Form
“You... you’re still alive?” Margaret’s voice trembled with shock and surprise, tinged with a hint of pleasure. She hastily turned to seek out the person who had called out “Lily,” but then, with a dismissive wave, she dispelled all her flames, her tone turning malevolent and vicious: “Hmph! How dare you show your face to me!?”
As if materializing from thin air, Du Chen leaned against the wall, his eyes fixed on Margaret with feigned tenderness. He remained silent for a long moment, his lips parting as if to speak, but he ultimately lowered his head in defeat, unable to utter a single word.
A perfect portrayal of an unfaithful lover, a prodigal son returned, now too ashamed and remorseful to face his former flame! Yet, within his Battle Soul, Du Chen viciously commanded, “Andy, I’ll stand here and shield you. Let the Precious Lotus Scripture conceal your aura. Hurry and dig! We only need a hole the size of a mosquito! If you alert Margaret and get me killed, you can forget about eating for the rest of your life!”
“Why are you silent?” Margaret stared intently at the bowed Du Chen, her gaze as cold as a thousand-year-old ice floe from the polar regions.
*More words, more mistakes. I have no idea what transpired between you and Wolf after he departed for the Skylands, so how dare I speak carelessly?!* Du Chen inwardly curled his lip, yet managed a faint, bitter smile with his head still lowered. “I… I have nothing to say…”
“You admit you have nothing to say?!” Margaret bit her lip tightly, snarling coldly. Suddenly, she strode forward and delivered a resounding slap to Du Chen’s face.
*Old Hag, I’ll remember that slap!* Du Chen seethed inwardly, yet on his face, he maintained a faint, bitter smile. “Has your anger subsided?”
Margaret scoffed, “I harbor no anger, only hatred! Do you think a single slap can reconcile a millennium of enmity?”
Du Chen sighed mournfully. “Then unsheathe your Water’s Embrace Sword. I won’t resist… this is all I owe you!”
“Ha, haha!” Margaret suddenly burst into laughter, swinging her right arm behind her. “I owe you? Hmph, is a single sword strike truly all I owe you!?” When her right arm swung back, it held a slender silver blade. The Water’s Embrace Sword was with Xue Ji; Margaret was only using an ordinary Sacred Artifact sword. But for Du Chen, did it truly matter what weapon a Fourteenth-rank Margaret wielded?!
*Swoosh!* The longsword pointed at Du Chen’s throat! Margaret gnashed her teeth with hatred!
But just then, Du Chen suddenly lifted his head, his lips pressed together, his eyes tightly shut. “Before you kill me, may I have a final few seconds? I wish to speak a single word…”
Margaret gazed icily at Du Chen. “Speak!”
“I… I’m sorry!” Du Chen’s head lowered again. In that instant, Margaret distinctly saw a faint glimmer of crystalline tears in the unfaithful lover’s tightly shut eyes…
Wolf had apologized! Though a millennium had passed, he had still apologized, uttering the one phrase she had awaited for a thousand years… *I’m sorry!* Margaret fell silent. Slowly, she retracted her sword, sneering, “To kill you with a single strike would be far too lenient, wouldn’t it?!”
Du Chen inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. Whether the Old Hag had softened or truly wished to torment Wolf, at least Francis’s objective had been achieved… Yet, Du Chen dared not move recklessly. He uttered not a word, not even daring to use his battle qi. Margaret understood Wolf far too well; a single misstep on his part would surely lead to a calamitous demise!
Margaret asked, “How are you here? Why has your strength regressed? And from where did you learn this art of invisibility?”
“My strength and invisibility… alas, it’s a long story!” Du Chen dared not answer this question carelessly, yet answering none of the three would arouse too much suspicion. “As for why I came here… I believe we share the same goal!” *This answer should be fine, right?* Margaret came for the fire Aberrant Beast, and “Wolf” was similarly drawn by the fire Aberrant Beast and came for it—it seemed a perfectly logical occurrence!
Du Chen thought anxiously. But Margaret’s gaze instantly turned frigid at his words. “We share the same goal… indeed! What my Water’s Embrace Ghost Map can predict, your astrology can achieve the same. But since you came for *him* today, why did you abandon our child to their fate back then?!”
Ah?! Du Chen was utterly dumbfounded. What did coming for the fire Aberrant Beast have to do with Margaret and Wolf’s child? No matter how sharp Du Chen’s mind was, he couldn’t comprehend these nonsensical words.
Margaret had indeed been abandoned by Wolf when she was pregnant, but whether her child was male or female, or its name, even Snoopy didn’t know these things. In other words, at least before Wolf journeyed south to the Skylands, he, too, was unaware of what had become of his child with Margaret. How was Du Chen supposed to answer this?
Seeing “Wolf” remain silent, Margaret gave a cold smile. “Speechless now, are we, hm?! The two lineages you fathered with that harlot Aro, passed down to this day: one became Grand Duke of Durkus, controlling the political landscape of Southern Einz! The other, hailed as the Lionheart Crown Prince, holds sway over the Skylands with immense prestige. But what of *our* child?!” She sharply questioned, “Their very bones have never been found to this day!”
“Wolf” remained utterly silent!
Margaret continued to sneer. “I won’t kill you. I will make you witness with your own eyes… my child’s remains are nowhere to be found, and that harlot Aro’s children will also never know a good day! I will make Francis, who resembles you, die as miserably as our child did! I will make that Arthur taste the most excruciating pain in the human world…”
Suddenly, a thought struck Margaret. Du Chen’s earlier call of “Lily” had momentarily stunned Margaret. A thousand years of love and hatred surged forth, and coupled with Du Chen’s utterly convincing performance, she had fallen into a brief daze, mistaking the person before her for the one she had loved and hated for a thousand years. But when Francis was mentioned, Margaret was suddenly jolted awake!
Holy Alliance military reports from years past showed that Wolf, ordered south, had resisted the Sea Clan alongside Miki on Bog Island. Miki was punished by court-martial for losing the Raging Fire Scorcher Cannon, but Wolf had disappeared without a trace. Now he suddenly appeared here; his strength, invisibility, and other aspects were all questionable. The only thing proving he wasn't a fraud was his knowledge of her childhood name! Margaret realized something was amiss. She covered her momentary pause with a string of hateful laughter, so swiftly that Du Chen noticed nothing. Then she waved her hand dismissively, “Enough, let’s not speak of these matters for now! How is the wound on your left shoulder?”
*The wound on my left shoulder?* Snoopy had said that Wolf, due to “being overly close with high-ranking Fiendkind Marshals and his military incompetence,” had always handled logistics and almost never saw battle. In the end, he was nothing more than a Brigadier General in charge of provisions. *How could he have sustained any wounds? The Old Hag is trying to trick me!* Du Chen smiled bitterly. “Don’t you believe me? When have I ever had a wound on my left shoulder?”
A mysterious blue light suddenly flashed in Margaret’s eyes. “Francis, you deserve death!” With that, her longsword shot out violently, stabbing towards Du Chen’s… legs?!
*Where did I go wrong?!* Just then, Dus urgently cried, “It’s open, hurry!” Du Chen’s Green Cloud had already ascended. His unparalleled speed barely evaded Margaret’s lethal sword strike. The Precious Lotus Scripture and Green Cloud abruptly shrunk to their smallest forms, rushing towards the tiny opening Andy had dug. Almost simultaneously, Old Five used Nineteen’s invisibility function to cloak Du Chen.
The scenery instantly shifted, and Du Chen had escaped to the other side of the wall. Dus laughed uproariously, “Even the Old Hag got put in her place!” But Du Chen couldn’t laugh. His combat experience and discerning eye were no longer those of a junior student. Since Margaret had recognized his true identity, she would surely deliver a fatal blow in her fury. *But why did her lethal sword strike target his legs, instead of vital points like the throat or heart?*
*She’s Xue Ji’s master… Heavenly Eye Divine Art!* A flash of insight struck Du Chen, and he roared, “Dus, abandon Green Cloud! Escape with the Precious Lotus Scripture!” But it was too late. With a deafening rumble, the life-wall collapsed, and Margaret pursued. Her longsword, just as Xue Ji’s had entwined Du Chen that day, transformed into countless strands of yielding water, firmly binding Green Cloud! Since Green Cloud was locked, the invisible Du Chen, still on it, could not escape Margaret’s lock-on. The Marshal of the Skylands, holding Green Cloud with her right hand, suddenly materialized a deep blue Water Orb in her left, smashing it down on Du Chen’s head.
The power of a Fourteenth-rank! Fifth Brother panicked. He took a sharp breath, his body surging several times in size, proactively meeting the Water Orb for Du Chen. His Divine Sense transmitted at top speed, “I’ll die! You escape!” Alas, meeting almost no resistance, his body was blasted to smithereens. Fifth Brother’s sacrifice did not even buy a second of time!
*Damn it, is this the power of a Fourteenth-rank? The Old Hag is too strong!* Green Cloud was locked down. Could he evade Margaret’s ultimate strike relying solely on the speed of the Precious Lotus Scripture? A chill emanated from his very soul, but immediately after, the fierce aura he’d acquired from his past life on the streets filled his chest! *I’ll stake it all!* Sands of the Hourglass in his left hand, Fire Lotus Lantern in his right, Water Veil Shield before him—his three Arcane Artifacts gathered, confronting Margaret’s Water Orb!
But just then, “Roar!” A resounding dragon’s roar echoed beside Du Chen. “Frigid Dragon Hurricane Array!” A tiger claw imbued with an icy cyclone shot out to meet Margaret’s left arm, even faster than Du Chen!
*Is Andy insane?* Dus sacrificing himself countless times was fine; Du Chen could reincarnate after death. *But Snow Wolf only has one life!*…
It seemed time in the Soul World was far swifter than in the real world! From digging open the wall to Du Chen encountering his moment of life and death, it was but a flash of lightning, perhaps less than a second. Yet, many things had transpired within Andy’s soul! Initially, a Golden Behemoth with only one leg, one arm, and half its torso remaining, and a Snow Wolf with gleaming fur, clearly overfed, were roughly a hundred meters apart, yet the two Aberrant Beasts clumsily operated the body together.
The Golden Behemoth roared, “Hmph, Snow Wolf, can’t you make the left hand move faster? Keep up with the rhythm of my right-hand control!”
Andy flustered, “I want to be faster too! Master is buying us time with his life! Hurry, hurry… Oh, come on, Old Huang, why don’t you just let me eat you?! Two of us controlling one body is never as smooth as just me controlling it alone!”
“Old Xue, why don’t *you* let me eat *you*?”
The two had spent several years within one body. Though rivals, engaging in life-and-death struggles from time to time, in the lonely Soul World, Andy could still eat, drink, relieve himself, and make friends in the outside world. But the Golden Behemoth, if he wished to speak, to not be lonely, had only the Snow Wolf to keep him company! Several years passed in a blink, and the two Aberrant Beasts had developed a strange, 'frenemy' relationship. Sometimes, when Du Chen pushed Andy too far, he would take a few bites out of the Golden Behemoth. But once Andy had fully gained the upper hand, he grew lazy. When boredom struck, he would hide in his soul to chat and fool around with the Golden Behemoth, complaining about how Miss Beibei ‘abused’ him… The two got along quite harmoniously.
With their not-so-harmonious coordination, the hole was finally dug through. Andy waved a paw, “Alright, I’ll give you ten seconds to run, then I’ll chase you again! If I catch you this time, I really will eat you!”
The Golden Behemoth laughed, about to turn and flee, but just then, Margaret pursued, Dus was shattered, and Du Chen had begun to fight for his life! Andy’s expression drastically changed. “Come back! Fight Margaret with me!” With that, he forcefully controlled the greater part of the body, which had not yet reverted from its transformation, moving a step ahead of Du Chen to confront Margaret!
The Golden Behemoth was startled. “Are you mad!? Our combined bodies cannot perfectly coordinate, yielding merely the power of a Twelfth-rank! Even if we completely fuse and our bodies coordinate, it would only be the power of an early Thirteenth-rank. Do you have a death wish?!”
The strength exerted by a body controlled by two souls, no matter how harmonious their cooperation, would certainly be less coordinated than that of a single soul! Andy seemed not to hear what the Golden Behemoth was saying; his right arm, under his control, had already struck out: Frigid Dragon Hurricane Array!
The Golden Behemoth was greatly alarmed, seizing Andy. “You’re truly mad, both of us will die!”
Andy turned his head and gave a wry laugh. “I, Chris Andy, favored child of the Moon Goddess, am a noble Snow Wolf with a grand appetite and even grander dreams! Master has raised me for several years, spending countless Gold Coins. Andy’s dream is… it’s time to repay Master!” He shrugged helplessly, “Alas, I’ll never see Butler Harry’s golden Brick again. And I won’t get to eat Miss Beibei’s good food anymore…”
…In reality, the sharp tiger claw infused with ice directly met Margaret’s Water Orb. A layer of ice shards appeared on its surface, and its lethal speed paused for a moment. Immediately after, with two crisp *clinks*, the sharp blades on the tiger claw were shattered by the Water Orb, followed by a *thwack*. The Water Orb grazed Andy’s wrist, which bent backwards at a grotesque angle, the bones brutally snapped…
But just then, the Composite Aberrant Beast’s left hand, which was supposed to be controlled by the Golden Behemoth, rose. “Deep Abyss Erosion Technique!” Dark green light mingled with the still-undissipated silver-white ice shards, but this was not all! The Composite Aberrant Beast roared fiercely, “Thought of the Earth Goddess!” A sphere of yellow light suddenly burst from underground, causing Margaret’s Water Orb to momentarily falter downwards! Immediately after, the Composite Aberrant Beast let out a furious roar, “Tiger Emperor’s Roaring Slash!” His right arm, which had just been shattered, suddenly regrew a sharp claw-blade, and his form transformed into a sharp, golden streak of light, *whoosh*, dispersing the deep blue Water Orb!
Water light scattered everywhere; even the robust life-wall was pierced. For a moment, this section of the Tunnel of Life boomed, as if on the verge of collapse…
…In his soul, Andy was startled. He saw the Golden Behemoth’s body gradually fade, slowly spiraling into the Snow Wolf’s body. “Hey, Old Huang, now it’s your turn to go crazy?!”
The Golden Behemoth laughed. “I’m not foolish! If I let you fight on, we both die; if I don’t fight, we still die… so better for just me to die and complete you!” Andy was startled again. The Golden Behemoth thumped his right fist against his chest—the McAllen Military Salute! “From that day in the Auerbach Grand Canyon, I knew my fate. But I am the beastmen’s foremost warrior, Golden Behemoth; the Supreme Father God would never permit me to be consumed by a gluttonous, lazy coward… You are a true warrior, worthy of inheriting all that I am!”
Andy gave a wry smile, his eyes slightly moist. “In Philip’s plan, Composite Aberrant Beasts possessed at most the power of a Tenth-rank, but Pamir’s complete form, however, possessed the power of a Thirteenth-rank. Old Xue, I don’t understand why, but it must be related to you, this ‘unplanned’ Snow Wolf… Thank you for letting me experience, in my lifetime, the sheer exhilaration of wielding Thirteenth-rank power!” The Golden Behemoth’s body had faded beyond visibility. With his last whisper, he vanished into Andy’s body. “Even if you fully control the body, you only possess the power of an early Thirteenth-rank. Fight your way out! The inheritor of the Golden Behemoth cannot die at the hands of a woman!”
Andy nodded. “I, Chris Andy, favored child of the Moon Goddess, will absolutely not die here!”
…In reality, Margaret saw a strange Aberrant Beast appear from thin air, actually managing to block her lethal strike, and a sneer touched the corner of her lips. She wasn’t concerned about Du Chen escaping. *Remember that dispersed Water Orb?* Margaret was indeed worthy of her reputation as the Godslayer Marshal. With one move broken, she immediately adapted her tactics. The scattered water droplets, after piercing the life-wall, mysteriously spread out, instantly forming a sealed cage, still trapping Du Chen within! After that single move, Andy knelt on the ground, tiger claws dug in, breathing heavily, his dark golden eyes fixed intently on Margaret. “Plants, metal, water, earth… a single move containing four elements, and the power of a Thirteenth-rank! Francis, you actually possess such a Divine Pet. Is it Pamir of Du Chen’s Divine Cult?”
Margaret’s longsword still had Green Cloud locked. “Show yourself! You’re trapped, invisibility is pointless!”
Du Chen appeared before Margaret with a bitter smile, with a Lotus Pedestal beneath his feet. “As expected of Margaret! But I don’t understand, how did you see through my disguise?” Margaret glanced at Du Chen’s left shoulder, but offered no explanation. Some things cannot be spoken aloud. Wolf indeed had a wound on his left shoulder, a wound Snoopy didn’t know about. It originated from their time in bed all those years ago… it was a bite mark! How could Wolf tell Snoopy about such a thing? So, of course, Du Chen wouldn’t know it today, and probably never would.
Du Chen rubbed his nose. “Can you let me die with clarity? I didn’t understand anything you said just now! Why exactly are you here?”
“Are you stalling for time?” Margaret gave a cold laugh. “Wouldn’t dying with regrets be crueler than dying with clarity? Haha!” Margaret laughed madly. At that moment, she truly looked like a deranged Old Hag. “Don’t think about stalling any longer! Die!” Margaret suddenly raised her left hand again!
Just then, Andy flashed forward and lunged. “Master, find a way to escape! Andy will hold her back!” *Escape!? Who could possibly break through a Fourteenth-rank cage? This is a battle qi cage, not a physical cage with a Lock!* “Andy, come back!” Du Chen cried urgently. At this moment, he needed to use his wits to trick Margaret; to fight now, a Thirteenth-rank Andy was no match for Margaret!
As expected, Margaret didn’t even spare Andy a glance. Her right hand continued to lock down Du Chen’s Green Cloud. She merely conjured water mist from side to side, condensed it into a longsword, and slashed. “To block one of my Water Delicacy techniques was already impressive. But my strongest… is swordsmanship!” Water’s Embrace Sword Art, Fourth Form: Hidden Water! The longsword suddenly vanished, disappearing into thin air. When it reappeared, Andy’s left shoulder, midway through his lunge, was *thwacked* and pierced by the longsword. He shuddered, could no longer maintain the Composite Aberrant Beast form, and transformed back into a Snow Wolf, collapsing onto the ground. A stream of crimson blood, mingled with faint gold and a subtle hint of moonlight, flowed out.
Intercepting a blow from the side is truly different from directly confronting an enemy strike; the gap between a Thirteenth-rank and a Fourteenth-rank is indeed a chasm! Du Chen gritted his teeth, staring coldly at Margaret. It wasn’t that he didn’t care about Andy, but at this moment, worrying or crying out was useless, it was asking for death. If he wanted to live, to save Andy, he needed to conserve his energy and devise a plan!
Margaret retrieved her longsword, still not looking directly at Andy. “So it was a Snow Wolf. Although its blood is a bit strange, it’s still the most useless of Snow Wolves… Hmph. Long ago, the Moon Goddess’s Divine Pet lineage split into two branches: one of Divine Wolves, and one of Snow Wolves. Who would have thought the most useless Snow Wolf could actually break one of my Water Delicacy techniques… Hah, haha!” The Old Hag laughed maniacally once more, then suddenly turned her head, asking Du Chen ferociously, “Isn’t it cruel to let the descendant of the Moon Goddess’s Divine Pet die beneath the Moon Goddess’s moonlight?” Du Chen’s heart suddenly stirred!
*Could Margaret also possess moonlight abilities? Damn it, I’m such an idiot! Xue Ji’s Secret Technique is moonlight. Then how could her master not know moonlight techniques!?* “Wait,” Du Chen thought, “Andy was just yelling about starving to death! What happens when Andy is starving to death!? The answer is, a flash of moonlight, and food appears—anyway, something unexpected always happens when a Snow Wolf is about to starve to death!”
Though a bit vague, it was better to gamble than to have nothing to gamble with! *I am the God of Gamblers!!!* Du Chen immediately feigned inability to bear Andy’s suffering, anxiously looking at Andy, who had collapsed in a pool of blood, then looked at Margaret, shaking his head and waving his hands in a fluster. “No, no, spare Andy! Your target is only me!”
Margaret seemed to enjoy Du Chen’s panicked expression, confirming her twisted psychology. She grinned maliciously. “But this Marshal especially enjoys doing the cruelest things. Don’t rush, soon enough, I will make you die under Wolf’s ‘Nine Revolutions of the Dragon’s Return,’ hahaha!” With that, Margaret raised her hand and sent a moonlight slash towards Andy!
Xue Ji’s Secret Technique was called Moon Wheel Dance, killing enemies with moonlight. Then Margaret’s mastery of moonlight was naturally unparalleled in the world. One could even say that unless the Moon Goddess resurrected, no one alive could wield moonlight purer than Margaret’s! A flash of moonlight. Andy, who had collapsed in a pool of blood, unconscious and awaiting death, suddenly smacked his lips and moved again! Moonlight, a life-and-death crisis, hunger—these three things, any one of which could stimulate a Snow Wolf, combined, seemed to have triggered some transformation! The moonlight slash struck Andy’s neck, but then it vanished, as if Andy had devoured it. Margaret was startled.
But just then, a faint mist rose from Snow Wolf Andy’s body, silver-white, like moonlight. Immediately after, Behemoth’s Form, tiger claws, dragon wings, Deep Abyss Armor… the Composite Aberrant Beast reappeared amidst the misty moonlight, then suddenly transformed back into a Snow Wolf. Between this transformation and reversion, Andy seemed to have no significant change, except for an additional layer of mist surrounding him…
