Chapter 181

The Earth Goddess's Reminiscence

The battle within Auerbach's resting tomb proved a tumultuous affair, full of twists and turns. Initially, Brockman, leveraging the indestructible and unyielding nature of his twenty Undead Battle Gods, steadily suppressed Susanna's faction of grave robbers, maintaining a clear advantage.

However, after a quarter-hour, Susanna's Guardian Battle God, Babylon, finally arrived with his reinforcement of three hundred elite soldiers. Suddenly, the tomb's already confined interior grew even more crowded. Nevertheless, Susanna, relying on her overwhelming numerical superiority and Babylon, a peak Eight-Star Battle God, not only reversed their defeat but seized a decisive upper hand!

“Princess, stand back! Leave this to me!” Babylon roared, his bear-like arms trembling as he wielded a pair of massive Meteorite Spiked Hammers. He swung them with the speed of a meteor chasing the moon, crashing them towards Brockman. “Light-weapon warriors, retreat and throttle the human opponents! Heavy-weapon wielders, charge! Smash the heads of those damned Undead!” One after another, Undead heads pulverized under Babylon’s Meteorite Spiked Hammers.

Staring at the Meteorite Spiked Hammer hurtling towards him, Brockman dared not clash directly. His shoulders pulled back, feet rapidly circling and pushing against the ground, and he swiftly transformed into a streak of light, evading Babylon’s sacred artifact. Yet, Brockman’s heart secretly quivered with alarm. On one hand, he was stunned by his opponent's power; on the other, he was amazed by the perceptive insight of this beastmen Battle God: the Undead’s true weakness indeed lay in their heads!

Seeing Brockman dodge, Babylon grinned sinisterly and surged forward. Disregarding the swiftness of Brockman’s light-streak form, he connected the handles of his two Meteorite Spiked Hammers. Extending the chains of their hammerheads to their maximum length, he then spun the Meteorite Hammers like a giant windmill, generating powerful gusts of wind. He didn't rely on wrist rotation for this 'windmill' effect; instead, the very earth beneath his feet spun rapidly.

“Earth Dragon’s Assault! Hah!” As Babylon’s massive body rotated, thick Earth-elemental energies from the ground swiftly gathered, transforming into a vortexial force in his hands. In an instant, several of Brockman’s Masters were shredded.

“Roar!” Babylon ceased his technique, fiercely pounding his chest. The peerless ferocity of the beastmen echoed with his low growl, shaking the entire Auerbach's resting tomb!

Susanna felt utterly confident. Watching Brockman, who could only parry without the strength to retaliate against Babylon, she curved her lips into a foxy smile. “My handsome sir, if you are willing to speak with me now, my offer still stands! I am truly fond of handsome men such as yourself! Uncle Babylon, please do not seriously injure him, I…”

As she spoke, she even cast a flirtatious glance at the indeed handsome Brockman.

Alas, Brockman was in no position to enjoy it. He knew full well that although he and the bear-tribe warrior, Babylon, were both Eight-Star Battle Gods, their specializations differed. An Eight-Star Battle God excelling in stealth and thievery could never confront a bear-tribe Eight-Star Battle God who had endured countless battles on a slaughterhouse battlefield, especially a power-type Battle God at the peak of Eight-Star.

But Lord Philip had shown him immense kindness. Even if not for the organization, he had to hold on for ten more minutes for Lord Philip's experiment!

With this thought, Brockman once again evaded Babylon’s Meteorite Spiked Hammer and barked, “Leave the Undead Battle Gods to stall them! We regroup and defend the last main entrance! Today, we either win or die, so fight to the last!”

Brockman’s subordinates hastily gathered, blocking the only corridor leading to the deepest part of the mausoleum. The Undead Battle Gods were left outside to delay, or rather… to sacrifice themselves!

Susanna frowned slightly. “Uncle…”

“Princess, I understand. They are protecting something! There must be others still doing something deep within the mausoleum!” Babylon suddenly retracted his Meteorite Hammers, staring at Brockman and his mere dozen remaining subordinates arrayed at the corridor entrance. He loudly commanded, “Heavy hammer wielders, attack the Undead! Everyone else, form ranks! The Wild Beast Armor-Piercing Formation in front, the Locust Poison Formation at the rear!”

When Brockman saw hundreds of beastmen warriors swiftly converge around Babylon, with Babylon’s robust physique at the core, a vanguard of arrows for offense, and a rear ready for ranged projection, his heart sank to rock bottom.

This was the difference between elite troops and ordinary Battle Gods. An army, especially an elite army, would never engage in reckless brawls. They would choose strategic battle formations that maximized damage and minimized losses. With the same number of people and equal strength, the victor would always be the soldiers, never the ordinary Battle Gods who understood nothing of military discipline or battlefield maneuvers.

“Locust Rain of Poisonous Death!” With Babylon’s cold command, hundreds of emerald green rays shot out from behind him, mercilessly striking towards Brockman!

Brockman cried out in alarm, hastily roaring, “Shields! Activate all battle qi shields!”

Babylon sneered. “Idiots!”

Pfft, pfft! Several of Brockman’s weaker subordinates immediately had their shields pierced, falling backward. “It’s a sacred artifact of war! It’s the Macallan Empire’s Locust Venom Crossbow! Damn it, my Lord, we cannot stop military-grade armor-piercing sacred artifacts!”

“Silence everyone! Maximize your battle qi shields!” Brockman gritted his teeth, desperately maintaining his shield while fumbling for his pocket watch. “One minute! Sixty seconds! We only need to hold on for sixty seconds! Fifty-nine! Fifty-eight…”

“Fifty-seven!” As Brockman shouted, his subordinates also cried out.

With every shout, a battle qi shield was pierced, and someone was either injured or killed.

“Fifty-six!”

Babylon glanced back at Susanna. “Princess, they must have powerful reinforcements arriving soon. Your subordinate has two suggestions: First, retreat. Second, launch an immediate charge, regardless of casualties, to eliminate them and storm the depths of the mausoleum. Please decide!”

Susanna sharply waved her hand. “Casualties be damned! Kill them all! No quarter!”

Babylon roared, and once again led his team in a full-force assault.

At this moment, neither of the two warring factions noticed a lotus artifact, the size of a mosquito, awkwardly fluttering out from a side funerary chamber. It weaved through the amidst clashing blades, then flew along a chaotic trajectory into another funerary chamber!

The lotus flew extremely poorly, as if Du Chen were driving drunk, but that wasn’t Du Chen’s fault…

Inside the lotus artifact, little Beibei’s eyes were wide, drooling as she stared at the gold, silver, jewels, and antique treasures before her. Du Chen had just brought all of these from that previous tomb chamber! So many good things… hehe! She had new toys again!

“Hehe, such a big, big bathtub! Papa, Beibei will use this to bathe from now on, smooch…” The little one gave Du Chen a fierce kiss, making him tingle all over and causing the lotus artifact to fly even more erratically.

But the little one continued to smile sweetly, demanding, “Papa, fly steadily! Beibei wants to try her new bathtub!” With that, the little one actually crawled into her chosen new toy! “Brook, water! Beibei wants to bathe!”

Nearby, Deboning hastily explained to little Beibei, “Miss, this is not a bathtub. This is a Sacred Fragrant Jade Wine Goblet used by the Mammoth tribe beastmen. It’s said to be a thousand years old, made entirely of Arctic Fragrant Jade, and was the Holy War spoils bestowed by Beast Emperor Auerbach upon the Mammoth King in ancient times!”

Harry licked his lips. “Then it’s not just a treasure, it’s an antique! If this were sold, it would be worth at least three thousand Gold Coins, right?!” Seeing Deboning too lazy to even acknowledge him, Harry gave an embarrassed smile. “Hmm, more than three thousand Gold Coins? Five thousand then? Oh, Miss, please be careful, don’t damage it! Harry recognizes this; it’s a woolly mammoth ivory micro-carving, only found in the Arctic Ice Plains! This thing is truly valuable!”

Little Beibei scratched her head with an abashed smile, lying in the huge wine goblet and holding a white antique playfully sticking out her tongue. “Oh, it’s not for scrubbing my back!?”

“Sweetheart, this will be your back-scrubber from now on!” Du Chen said generously, glancing at the mountain of treasures piled behind them.

While Du Chen was striking it rich, his old friend Brockman…

Thump!

Brockman’s desperately held battle qi finally ran out. He sank to one knee, supporting himself with one hand, bitterly muttering, “Two, one, zero…”

Around him, there were no longer any of his own alive!

Even the Undead Battle Gods were dead—their heads smashed to smithereens, leaving only incomplete corpses twitching on the ground, a sickening sight. Yet, in Brockman’s eyes, it held a tragic grandeur!

The time was up, but Lord Philip had not appeared… he had done his best!

Babylon approached Brockman, raising his massive Meteorite Spiked Hammer high, aiming for the back of his head.

Susanna hesitated slightly, her gaze lingering on Brockman’s undeniably handsome face. She instructed, “Kerry, take your people and immediately charge into the deepest tomb hall. Retrieve what I want, then sweep the other funerary chambers!” With that, she extended a slender finger and lifted Brockman’s chin. “My handsome sir, death, or surrender and become my lover? Which path do you choose? Oh, I misspoke, you have no choice now, do you?”

Brockman glanced at Babylon raising his hammer, then suddenly straightened his collar, a hint of liberated smile appearing on his face. “Actually, I’ve wanted to commit suicide for a long time, but I was always unwilling because I hadn’t fulfilled my promise to my friend… Thank you for giving me this opportunity, beautiful lady! However, I am a Divine Grant Earl, and I have the right to request a bloodless, honorable death!”

“Impertinent!” Susanna sharply flicked her hand, slapping him across the face. “Uncle, kill him!”

Whoosh!

The millstone-like giant hammer arced gracefully, rising from behind Babylon, bypassing his massive head, and then descended with thunderous force towards the back of Brockman’s head.

Thump!

The hammer had fallen!

The man was not dead!

When the giant hammer reached two feet behind Brockman’s head, it seemed to become as heavy as Mount Miglio. A suction force, emanating from the earth’s core and far surpassing the inertia of the swinging Meteorite Hammer, forcefully altered the giant hammer’s trajectory, pulling it violently to the ground, where it landed beside Brockman’s foot!

Susanna was greatly startled. Immediately after, her thin, crimson lips struggled to open, and a sudden burden of ten thousand pounds seemed to press down on her, almost making her lose her balance.

Babylon gritted his teeth, slowly extending his right palm to steady Susanna. “Princess, this is bad. It’s the Earth-element Secret Art of the Golden Behemoth royal family…”

Thump!

Thump, thump, thump…

Sounds from the corridor and tomb passages stunned Susanna. Kerry and his group, who had just charged into the corridor, had inexplicably halted. Those with stronger cultivation barely managed to stand, the weaker ones collapsed directly, and the weakest were already a bloody mess, no longer human, slumping like mud on the ground, their bodies gradually sinking into the earth!

Babylon painstakingly finished his sentence. “…The Earth Goddess’s Reminiscence!”

“It’s the unique Secret Art of the Earth-element Golden Behemoth royal family, The Earth Goddess’s Reminiscence!” In a tomb chamber far from the battlefield, Deboning, perched on the lotus artifact, was equally astonished. “No, as far as I know, even the Golden Behemoth King’s Secret Art shouldn't possess such power! From such a distance, a mere side effect shouldn't be able to affect your sacred artifact, Young Master!”

Du Chen also suddenly felt the lotus artifact flying a bit slowly.

The Earth Goddess’s Reminiscence—damn it, the name sounds beautiful, but its true name should be Gravity Manipulation. The Earth Goddess misses you, so of course, she increases the gravity on you ten, a hundred, a thousand, or even ten thousandfold to pull you back into the earth’s embrace!

“Deboning, I made a mistake. I didn’t realize Philip’s experiment would end in just ten minutes! Alas, I was still using Mount Tianshan’s timeline to calculate this experiment, which led to a few small errors!” Du Chen said, blaming himself. In truth, his luck and analysis had been excellent. After all, he couldn't have predicted what a ‘lifeline’ truly was, much less how unique Auerbach’s resting tomb’s ‘lifeline’ would be!

“Harry, take Miss Beibei into the lotus artifact where Grand Matriarch and the others are. Deboning, though I tampered with Number Six, be on guard just in case!”

Du Chen looked at Deboning’s stern gaze and gave a cold smile. “The Composite Aberrant Beasts… they’ve been completed after all!”
