Chapter 143
You're Strong? Have a Brick!
“Young Master, be careful! The Aberrant Beast approaching is exceedingly strange; its aura is enigmatic and unfathomable. Yet, judging solely by its aura, it is immensely powerful! At least a Nine-Star Battle God-level Aberrant Beast, certainly stronger than Sulan!” Deboning shielded Du Chen, his iron hook already latched onto his wrist, his gaze fixed solemnly on a nearby clump of bushes.
A rustle! From the mist-shrouded Misty Forest came an utterly bizarre sound. Then, from the bushes beside the clearing where the group had lit their fire for roasting meat, an Aberrant Beast emerged. It moved with an unhurried, leisurely gait, much like a general utterly assured of victory, strolling about, toying with his adversaries.
“Human adventurers! Surely, you must have already sensed my might!”
It was a wolf, a snow-white wolf. A wolf incredibly white, yet equally incredibly fat, as stout as a pig! A fat wolf!
However, beneath its otherwise ludicrous appearance, it exuded an aura of dominance that sent a chill through Du Chen's very soul!
Terrifying. In the instant their gazes met, Du Chen harbored no doubt that it could effortlessly snap his neck with a single bite!
“I, Chris Andy, the darling of the Moon Goddess, shall grant you an opportunity. Surrender your treasures and provisions, and in return, claim my benevolence!” On the fat wolf's corpulent face, an unusually rich tapestry of expressions played out: nobility, arrogance, and an utterly overbearing tyranny—his aura clearly proclaimed his power to effortlessly annihilate everyone present!
“Gods above, it's a Snow Wolf! This Snow Wolf actually speaks human tongue! Unbelievable! Oh, wait, if even I, Harry, can wear noble attire thanks to my esteemed master, then it's not impossible for a Snow Wolf to speak human words!”
Shieb looked at the Snow Wolf and burst into hearty laughter, completely devoid of fear. For he knew the Snow Wolf species all too well.
“Damned Shieb, cease your laughter! My aura is so mighty, you ought to be trembling!” The fat wolf snarled a vicious threat, glaring down at Harry with disdainful pride.
Gulp. Harry's Adam's apple bobbed. He felt a chilling surge of killing intent, sending him scurrying immediately behind Du Chen. It must be said, Harry had undergone some changes these past days. Were he his old self, the Shieb would likely have already pledged allegiance to this super Aberrant Beast, fawning over it even...
Gods, is this truly a Snow Wolf? Why is its aura so incredibly potent!?
From its appearance, it seemed even more terrifying than a mighty dragon! No, not merely 'seemed'—it *was* certainly more terrifying than a dragon!
“So it's a Snow Wolf! Hmph!” Deboning slowly lowered his shoulders, poised for action at a moment's notice. “Young Master, Snow Wolves are Tier One Aberrant Beasts, much like the Shieb, hailing from the polar ice plains. Ordinary Snow Wolves aren't much stronger than common tigers or leopards, merely possessing slightly higher intelligence... However, this particular Snow Wolf is highly unusual. Its aura is exceptionally potent, feeling akin to the Dragon's Might unique to the Dragon clan, though not entirely identical!”
“Excellent, human. You have indeed sensed my might. Now, promptly comply with my demands, lest I find myself compelled to sate my appetite with your flesh and blood!”
The Snow Wolf advanced step by step towards Du Chen. Deboning stood proudly before him, the eyes of man and wolf locked in a silent challenge!
The mist within the Misty Forest grew ethereal and eerie. The mist on Deboning's side remained tranquil, as if undisturbed, for his techniques focused on concealing all presence, nurturing a storm-like, fatal strike within an outwardly calm and ripple-less environment!
Conversely, the mist around the Snow Wolf slowly began to coil, gradually coalescing into a swirling vortex of fog with him at its center.
Du Chen, one arm cradling his son and the other gripping Harry, slowly retreated. This was a confrontation between experts, one he was certainly not equipped to handle.
“It seems you choose to be my adversary?” The Snow Wolf grinned menacingly. Though the smile on his plump face appeared somewhat comical, under the oppressive aura of his might, no one could bring themselves to laugh.
Deboning remained silent, instead quietly sensing the subtle fluctuations in his opponent's aura. But the more he sensed, the less confident he became.
Just then, Alex, nestled in Du Chen’s arms, suddenly pursed his lips. “Dealing with such trash takes this long? You dimwits, Father, put me down! This Master shall teach him a lesson!”
“Alex, you…”
Du Chen felt a pang of concern for his son, unwilling to let him take such risks. Yet, Alex's disdainful gaze made him realize that his son was, in fact, a super, perhaps even an Ultimate Divine Pet! Though he previously only enjoyed household chores, who could deny his extraordinary origins!?
Even Nine-Star Battle God Ted couldn't hatch a conquered Aberrant Beast!
With this thought, Du Chen gently placed his son on the ground. He gestured for Deboning to watch over him.
“A child? Hmph!” Andy watched Alex approaching step by step, haughtily raising his head. “I disdain to slay children! Little one, begone, do not force me to kill you, lest I find myself quite willing to sate my appetite with your body!”
“No one speaks so insolently in my presence—except my Father!” Alex strode forward, head lowered, his eyes fixed on Andy, speaking each word with deliberate emphasis.
In an instant, he reached Andy. He looked up, eyes narrowed, appraising the wolf’s head that was still taller than him, and declared with chilling intensity: “Two paths: surrender, or death!”
“Surrender? You command Chris Andy, the darling of the Moon Goddess, Lord Chris Andy, to surrender!?” The Snow Wolf burst into boisterous laughter, then abruptly snapped his head down, his cavernous maw opening towards Alex.
“Awooo!”
The next moment, Andy shrieked in agony, “No, don't poke my nostrils!”
Alex, with one hand, splayed two fingers and jammed them into the wolf's nostrils. He then bent down, and with his other hand, picked up a brick-like stone from the ground. Then, with a resounding ‘*Thwack!*’, he slammed the brick onto Andy's head, knocking him flat.
Pat! Pat!
The little one patted his hands clean, wiping his fingers on the apron tied around his waist, as he leisurely strolled back to Du Chen's side, declaring, “Being a Master is just that simple!”
Du Chen stared at his son, dumbfounded, utterly at a loss for words.
Deboning stepped forward, seized the Snow Wolf Andy, and after patting him down for a moment, he, too, suddenly froze. Then, a wry smile spread across his face.
“Alex, well done!” Du Chen snapped out of his shock, overjoyed. He swept his son into a fierce hug and kissed him, realizing his son truly hadn't been boasting! He was indeed a Master! “Haha, Deboning, what do you make of the Young Master’s power just now? What level would you say he is?”
To his surprise, Deboning merely shook his head with a look of exasperated amusement. “Ah, how embarrassing!”
He sighed, picked up Andy from the ground, and walked over to Du Chen to explain. “Young Master, I understand now!” He dangled the Snow Wolf he held and gave a wry smile, “This Snow Wolf has undergone some unknown mutation, granting him an unfathomably mysterious aura. But in reality, he is merely a Snow Wolf possessing Dragon's Might. Beyond his terrifying presence, he holds absolutely no actual power! No, to be precise, due to his excessively corpulent body, he can neither run nor leap effectively. His true strength is barely more than that of a wild boar! I reckon a wild boar could easily dispatch him!”
“Ah? Then Alex…”
“The Young Master truly possesses superhuman talent. He must be exceptionally sensitive to the auras between Aberrant Beasts. He must have seen through this wolf's lack of true capability, which is why he stepped forward to defeat him... In truth, to defeat this Snow Wolf, one only needs a little strength and a touch of speed. This doesn’t necessarily mean the Young Master's power is immense; it only indicates that his strength…”
“...only indicates that his strength is but slightly greater than that of a pig...” Du Chen felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over his heart.
Alas, it turned out Alex, his 'Master' son, was merely picking on a soft persimmon!
Deboning lowered his head in slight embarrassment; after all, he too had been fooled by the Snow Wolf Andy's aura moments ago. “Nevertheless, for the Young Master to discern true strength beneath a mere aura—such discernment is truly rare.”
“A Master’s insight, naturally, is keen and sharp!” Alex added, with a solemn nod.
Du Chen pursed his lips. *Never mind,* he thought. Even if Alex’s strength was lacking, he was still his son! Handing the little one to Harry, Du Chen said, “Deboning, what do you make of this Snow Wolf?”
“A potent aura, the ability to speak human tongues—this Snow Wolf is indeed peculiar. Hey! Stop playing dead, open your eyes and answer our questions!” Deboning tossed the Snow Wolf onto the ground.
“Alas, I am defeated! Do with me as you will!” The Snow Wolf’s former arrogant and tyrannical aura had vanished completely, replaced by a face etched with despondency and helplessness. “However, I am a Snow Wolf with an appetite, with dreams, and one who has *eaten* a dragon!” He gave a sheepish grin, “Might I request the treatment befitting a noble prisoner of war?”
“You’ve eaten a dragon?” Du Chen stared at him in astonishment.
“Indeed! I, Chris Andy, the darling of the Moon Goddess, swear upon my dreams!” Andy quickly recounted his tale.
Andy was originally the lowest-ranked Aberrant Beast within the Misty Forest. Any other Aberrant Beast could look down upon him. Furthermore, his body was so excessively corpulent that he couldn't even catch a rabbit!
One day, not long ago, Andy was on the verge of starving to death. He mused, as a Snow Wolf with dreams, even if he were to starve, he should at least die with grandeur. So, he slowly and leisurely climbed the highest peak in the Misty Forest. Once atop the summit, he howled self-importantly to the heavens, waiting to perish from hunger… Just then, a perfectly roasted dragon fell from the sky…
For several days thereafter, Andy lay sprawled on the mountaintop, feasting upon the dragon. He devoured the enormous dragon until not even a bone shard remained. Yet, once again starving and with no more dragons or other treats falling from the sky, he had no choice but to slowly descend the mountain, seeking his fortune elsewhere.
To his surprise, however, his body had undergone some unknown transformation. Aberrant Beasts that once scoffed at him now fled for their lives at his sight, as if they had seen a true dragon. Even some timid creatures, like rabbits, were scared to death instantly!
Andy couldn't fathom why, but he was a Snow Wolf with dreams. For the sake of his dreams, he found a lakeside frequented by rabbits, lay motionless, and simply terrified the little creatures who came to drink water to death…
As the local rabbit population dwindled to nothing, Andy's dreams once again threatened to shatter.
However, he soon discovered a new dream: he found an open clearing, lay on his back, and opened his cavernous mouth wide. Whenever a bird flew overhead, he would let out a mighty roar—and the bird would plummet directly into his waiting maw.
Until today, when all the nearby birds had also perished. And Andy, his dreams once again teetering on the brink of ruin, caught the enticing scent of Alex’s roasting meat…
