Chapter 75

Couldn't Hold Back Anymore

The sky was a dull gray. Luo Feng, agile as an ape, swiftly navigated the steel and concrete outskirts of 003 City. True to its reputation as the former largest city, even its suburbs were dense with high-rises and endless residential districts, a testament to its extremely high land utilization.

Luo Feng would sprint at top speed, then abruptly halt, hiding behind a corner. Only after a dozen or so monsters, foraging for food, had passed, would he continue his advance. With his spiritual force constantly scanning the surroundings, Luo Feng could clearly identify dangers ahead or around corners.

“This one will do!” Luo Feng launched himself like a cannonball, leaping directly into a third-story window of a three-story townhouse.

Decades of abandonment had left the interior thick with dust, yet household appliances were still discernible, though some had collapsed and shattered. Luo Feng quickly flipped the mattress on the bed; the underside was indeed much cleaner. A quick tidying, and it would be ready for sleep.

Setting down his backpack, Luo Feng swiftly pulled out his binoculars and moved to the north window. The windowpane was caked with dust, making the once-transparent glass as opaque as black glass. Pulling the window open halfway, Luo Feng raised his binoculars and peered north. His current location was within the Vanke Dream City Residential District, offering a clear view of the Jinjiang Chain Hotel to the north.

He could also see the street in front of the hotel. The distance between them was roughly two li. With Luo Feng's eyesight, he could discern the street's activity even without binoculars, but through them, everything was crystal clear.

“Jinjiang,” Luo Feng murmured, standing by the window, watching.

Five minutes later.

“Hmm?” A hint of joy flickered across Luo Feng’s face. “So that’s the room!” Through his binoculars, Luo Feng clearly saw two figures standing on a sixth-floor balcony of the hotel two li away, scanning the area with their own binoculars. These two were none other than Zhang Zehu and the gunman, Li Xiao.

“Opportunity is for those who wait,” Luo Feng said, lowering his binoculars, settling in for the long stakeout.

...

Meanwhile, across the way, inside the Jinjiang Chain Hotel.

The Tiger Fang Squad Captain said coldly, “Hu Zi, Ah Xiao, you two listen carefully! You must find the Fire Hammer Squad’s hiding place! I estimate Chen Gu will be using a sniper rifle, so he’ll definitely be in a high position! So, focus your search on the upper floors of those high-rise buildings.”

“Yes, Captain,” Zhang Zehu and Li Xiao replied, standing on the balcony, continuously scanning the high-rise buildings of Vanke Dream City Residential District through their binoculars.

“Pan Ya, is the intelligence you gave me about the Fire Hammer Squad accurate?” The gray-haired Elder Liu frowned.

The Tiger Fang Captain quickly responded, “Absolutely no problem. The information on those six is very accurate… The only variable is Luo Feng. He was recruited early by the Extreme Martial Arts Dojo and possesses exceptional talent. His strength should have reached the Beginner Tier Warrior level.”

“Hmm.”

Elder Liu nodded slightly. “In that case, Pan Ya, once your team locates the Fire Hammer Squad, come find me.”

“Yes,” the Tiger Fang Captain replied with a smile.

...

Unfortunately, the Tiger Fang Squad members found no trace of the Fire Hammer Squad by nightfall. The next morning.

“Young Master, according to the training plan, your target this morning is a Primary Beast General level monster, strong in power but weak in speed. Kalong and I will not intervene,” Elder Liu said with a slight smile. The mixed-race youth laughed heartily, “Good, you and Kalong just watch from the side. I’ll handle it alone.”

The burly white man also smiled faintly.

“Pan Ya,” Elder Liu turned and instructed, “Yesterday, the two members of your Tiger Fang Squad who were on night watch can rest. The others will come with us.”

“Understood,” the Tiger Fang Captain, Pan Ya, grinned.

The Tiger Fang Squad now consisted of two Intermediate Tier Warriors and four Beginner Tier Warriors!

“Iron Head, Ah Dong. You two were on night watch yesterday, so rest here today,” Pan Ya instructed. Protecting the young master was the top priority, so if anyone had to stay behind, it would be the two weakest… and the two weakest in the Tiger Fang Squad were naturally chosen from the four Beginner Tier Warriors.

Today it was Iron Head and Ah Dong; tomorrow, Hu Zi and Li Xiao. They rotated.

“Understood,” the bald strongman and Ah Dong, who was wiping his firearm, said with a smile.

“Let’s go,” Elder Liu commanded.

The mixed-race youth, Elder Liu, the burly white man, and the four Tiger Fang Squad members—seven in total—left the hotel. Only the bald strongman and Ah Dong remained in the spacious room.

“Damn, it’s great to have a powerful dad,” the bald strongman couldn’t help but say. “To accumulate combat experience with monsters, he can hire two Advanced Tier Warriors as bodyguards, and even our entire squad to protect him, tsk tsk… Back when I was starting out, I had to risk my life with my head on the line.”

Ah Dong scoffed, “How can we compare to them? Didn’t you hear… that Elder Liu, with a butler-like tone, said—‘Young Master’s target this morning is a Primary Beast General level monster, strong in power but weak in speed.’ Damn, even the training is meticulously planned, sequence and all! Which monster to fight first, which to fight next!”

The wilderness was fraught with danger.

What warrior had the luxury of choice? If you encountered a formidable monster, could you just shout, ‘I won’t fight this monster’? Impossible! If you didn’t fight, the monster would chase you, forcing your hand.

“But the young master is different. If he encounters a powerful monster, Elder Liu steps in to resolve it. They specifically wait for a Primary Beast General level monster for their young master to practice on,” the bald strongman said, shaking his head with a sneer.

...

Waking up early, Luo Feng quickly noticed seven members of the Thunder Squad leaving the hotel.

“Seven people? Weren’t there nine in total?”

Luo Feng’s heart stirred. “The remaining two must still be in the hotel!”

Luo Feng was well aware of his own strength. He could definitely sweep aside Intermediate Tier Warriors, but Advanced Tier Warriors were a different story. If he launched a sneak attack, he might be able to kill an opponent instantly. But if the ambush failed… it would be quite troublesome. After all, in a direct confrontation, an Advanced Tier Warrior could dodge a sniper bullet in an instant.

An Advanced Tier Warrior’s neural reaction speed was far greater than his own.

“Among the nine members of that Thunder Squad, the burly white man and Elder Liu are, more likely than not, Advanced Tier Warriors. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been so arrogant in trying to seize the Two-headed Blackline Snake’s corpse.”

“If I, alone, were to face all nine of them! With a sneak attack and some luck, it might be possible to succeed. However… if even one of them, before dying, managed to transmit news of me being the killer via their watch, I’d be in huge trouble.” Luo Feng knew very well, judging by Elder Liu and the burly white man’s attitude towards the mixed-race youth, and the address of ‘Young Master,’ that the mixed-race youth had an incredibly powerful background!

After all, being able to arrange two Advanced Tier Warriors as bodyguards indicated that the powerful figure behind the mixed-race youth was at least a War God! Perhaps, even higher in authority and status than a War God!

“Now, there are only two people in the hotel. Should I kill them?”

Luo Feng hesitated for a moment, then dismissed the idea.

“I can’t kill them. If I kill these two, the other seven survivors will definitely become wary, and it would be much harder for me to kill the Tiger Fang Captain and Zhang Zehu.”

Endure!

“I refuse to believe I won’t get my chance!”

...

Days passed. The Thunder Squad found no trace of the Fire Hammer Squad, and Luo Feng also failed to find the optimal moment to strike! Each time the Thunder Squad left the hotel, they left the two members who hadn’t rested from night watch behind. The first day it was Iron Head and Ah Dong, the second day it was Hu Zi and Li Xiao.

They rotated…

Luo Feng endured for a full nine days!

“Damn it!”

“They’re too regular!” Luo Feng’s face was bitter. “This Thunder Squad is practically the young master’s nanny squad!” These past few days, Luo Feng hadn’t just been watching the hotel; he had also secretly observed the seven who went out hunting, to see if he could find an opportunity for the Tiger Fang Squad and Elder Liu’s group to separate. But he found no such chance!

The Thunder Squad constantly protected the mixed-race youth, never straying too far, leaving Luo Feng with no opening whatsoever.

On the tenth day!

“If I keep enduring like this, I might not get a chance even when they return to the Base City. I can’t wait any longer!” Luo Feng gritted his teeth, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. “Today is the tenth day, and it should be Zhang Zehu and that gunman Li Xiao guarding the hotel… Zhang Zehu, hmph, today I’ll eliminate both of you!”

...

At the Jinjiang Chain Hotel.

“Hu Zi, Ah Xiao, you two didn’t sleep all night, so get some good rest,” the Tiger Fang Captain said with a smile.

“Understood, Captain.”

Zhang Zehu and Li Xiao both replied with smiles.

“Let’s go.”

Elder Liu gave the command, and the Tiger Fang Captain and others followed Elder Liu’s group, a total of seven people, out of the hotel. As Luo Feng observed these seven leaving the hotel from afar, he quietly departed his own hideout, taking a different path towards the hotel.
