Chapter 28

Warrior Combat Assessment

Late on the night of July 31st, at Villa No. 199 in Mingyue Residential District, the second floor of the villa boasted four expansive rooms: a bedroom, a home theater, a reception room, and an enormous Training Hall. This Training Hall alone spanned a full 120 square meters, occupying nearly half of the second floor's total area. In the dead of night, the streetlights from the residential district cast their glow through the home theater's glass, refracting into the second-floor Training Hall. Dressed in loose training attire, Luo Feng sat cross-legged on the floor. Two streaks of light continuously circled his body, moving swiftly, then darting around the entire Training Hall like joyful birds—soaring, diving, and turning with incredible agility. Moments later, the two streaks of light slowed and halted, hovering before Luo Feng. They were two flying knives. 'My telekinetic ability currently only allows me to manage two objects at once. If I tried to control four or five flying knives... their speed, power, and everything else would drastically diminish.' For nearly a month, Luo Feng had focused his primary energy on mental power, in addition to training his physical strength to achieve precise control. During this past month, living in Mingyue Residential District, Luo Feng had met many Warriors. Through conversations with them, he confirmed one thing: his 'Nianli' was indeed mental power! 'Tomorrow is the Warrior Combat Assessment. Tonight, I'll get some good rest.' Luo Feng rose, slid open the glass door, and entered his bedroom to sleep. On the morning of August 1st, led by a Warrior from the Extreme Martial Arts Dojo, over thirty prospective Warriors, including Luo Feng and Yang Wu, headed to the train station. 'Chug-chug—' The friction of the rapidly moving train was faint, yet the carriage was filled with a cacophony of voices. The train car was a sealed unit, with no windows to view the outside. On a large screen in each carriage, a figure now appeared. Inside the carriage, numerous prospective Warriors sat. 'Greetings, prospective Warriors, future Warriors! I am from the HR Alliance,' a middle-aged man's speech was broadcast live on the carriage's large screen. 'I believe you've all heard of the HR Alliance! The most powerful organization in the world, the wealthiest organization, the organization with the most Warriors! You're probably also familiar with another name for our HR Alliance—the Underground Alliance!' The prospective Warriors in the carriage gradually quieted down. Luo Feng and Yang Wu sat side-by-side, looking up at the large screen. 'Fengzi, you know about the Underground Alliance, right?' Yang Wu chuckled. 'They're the big shots! The wealthiest organization in the world, richer than any national government.' 'I know,' Luo Feng replied. Luo Feng smiled. Living in Mingyue Residential District for the past month, he had learned a lot of basic information from the Warriors there. Before the Great Nirvana Period, powerful families like the Morgans, Rockefellers, and Onassises controlled political parties behind the scenes in countries like America and various European nations. These families once commanded over half of the world's immense wealth! However, with the advent of the Great Nirvana Period, many smaller nations fell to monster attacks, and even major powers struggled to cope. Governments, backed by their armies, wielded unprecedented control. At this time, some ancient and powerful families worldwide, fearing suppression by government forces, banded together to form the HR Alliance, also known as the Human Rights Alliance. 'Human Rights Alliance' sounded good. In reality, it was an alliance to consolidate the power of these super-families, which Warriors commonly referred to as the 'Underground Alliance.' 'Our Alliance is the world's largest platform for Warrior exchange! Here, you can undertake missions with enormous rewards.' 'Our Alliance wields immense influence across the globe! Join us, become one of us, and even if you travel to America, the European Union, or any other region, you will enjoy top-tier services.' 'Our Alliance possesses formidable military and political power. Join us...' The middle-aged man spoke for a full fifteen minutes on the carriage screen. 'Greetings, future Warriors.' The hanging screen in the carriage switched to another man with a stern face. 'Allow me to introduce myself. I am Deputy Director Liu of the Jiangnan Base City Security Bureau. In our Huaxia Nation, the power of the government and military is undoubtedly the strongest! Join the government, join the military, and no matter where you are in the Huaxia Nation, you will receive the best support.' ...'Everyone.' A moment later, the carriage screen changed to another person. 'I am Manager Wang of the Thunder Dojo Grand Hall in Jiangnan Base City. Our Thunder Dojo was founded by Lei Shen, the world's fastest and invincible powerhouse, and we have branches all over the world...' ...'Future Warriors, the previous three have already introduced themselves. Needless to say, you all know I'm from the Extreme Martial Arts Dojo!' The carriage screen switched to yet another person. 'My name is Zhuge! The Extreme Martial Arts Dojo... it's the largest martial arts dojo in the world, founded by the world's strongest individual! Our dojo possesses the most formidable power in the world...' The presentations from all four individuals sparked lively discussions among the prospective Warriors in the carriage. 'Second Brother, once you become a Warrior, which faction do you plan to join? I think the Extreme Martial Arts Dojo is pretty good.' 'Join the Underground Alliance, you'll make the most money, haha.' 'The Thunder Dojo offers slightly better benefits for Warriors than the Extreme Martial Arts Dojo. Joining the Thunder Dojo wouldn't be bad either.' Excited chatter from the prospective Warriors filled every corner of the carriage. Luo Feng and Yang Wu also discussed in low voices: 'Fengzi, my instructor and my former senior brothers all joined the Extreme Martial Arts Dojo, and now even you've joined. Of course, I'll do the same! Anyway, even if you join the Extreme Martial Arts Dojo, you can still take missions from the Underground Alliance. As for buying and selling items, you can do it within the Extreme Martial Arts Dojo or through the Underground Alliance.' 'Extreme Martial Arts Dojo, Thunder Dojo, Underground Alliance, government military...' Luo Feng understood. Within the Huaxia Nation, the government military was the strongest. Next was the Underground Alliance, an alliance formed by super-families worldwide, which even national governments dared not easily offend, as the Underground Alliance virtually controlled the world's economic lifelines! The Thunder Dojo and Extreme Martial Arts Dojo ranked last in terms of raw power. However, joining these two major dojos also represented freedom! 'Brother Yang, how many prospective Warriors do you think are on this train?' Luo Feng looked around; there were over a hundred people in just one carriage. 'A lot,' Yang Wu pursed his lips. 'I just overheard someone saying there are two Warrior Combat Assessments each year, and each time, over a thousand prospective Warriors from the entire Jiangnan Base City participate.' 'Over a thousand people?' Luo Feng was astonished. But it made sense; with Jiangnan City's 200 million population and Yangzhou City's 10 million, it averaged out to only a few dozen per million. Moments later—'Prospective Warriors, the train is about to arrive. Please prepare to disembark.' A voice echoed from the carriage's loudspeaker. The train gradually decelerated until it came to a complete stop. *Whoosh*, the carriage doors opened, and prospective Warriors from each car stepped out. Soon, the vast throng of prospective Warriors entered a large military camp. The camp covered an immense area, and particularly around its perimeter, heavy weaponry of all kinds was visible everywhere, with cannon muzzles aimed outwards. Numerous soldiers stood armed with various sophisticated weapons. Luo Feng and the other prospective Warriors looked around. 'Look outside the camp!' Yang Wu excitedly pointed into the distance. Luo Feng looked closely and saw some emaciated monsters, their bellies distended, roaring beyond the camp's security perimeter. Yet, these monsters dared not approach the military camp. 'Caw—' With a piercing cry, the prospective Warriors almost simultaneously looked up. In the azure sky, hundreds of flying monsters swarmed past in an instant. 'The books said that outside the Base Cities, monsters are everywhere. The books were indeed right,' Luo Feng's eyes gleamed. 'Humans can only live within Base Cities or gather in military camps. To venture into these places alone and battle formidable monsters—only Warriors can do that!' 'Everyone—' A loud voice reached every prospective Warrior's ears. 'Welcome to the Northern Military Region of Jiangnan City. This time, the Warrior Combat Assessment for all 1,680 of you will be held here in our Northern Military Region. I hope most of you pass the assessment, and I hope all of you survive this combat assessment!'
